BRIEF

How Might We help museums and other public institutions bring people closer and fulfill their mission to preserve and activate cultural heritage in the 21st century?

GOALS

Create a digital platform -Mobile app-. The MVP should: Create a personalised guide platform aiming to provide young people a more interactive and informative experience through its features.

Secondary research

Understanding the Museums needs

Obtaining up-to-date information in such a short period of time regarding the challenges faced by museums in today’s world proved to be quite challenging. We persevered and carefully selected the most recently published articles as our primary sources.

Even though we failed in finding hard data, we acquired some noteworthy findings.

The last finding, here highlighted, was key. Since younger audiences were going less and less to the museums, we made a strategic decision to narrow our focus to this targeted audience.

Qualitative research

What the user wants and really needs

Our primary objective to conduct UXR Interviews was to unravel the underlying causes of apathy and identify potential motivations that could inspire them to visit museums more frequently.

Target: Individuals aged between 20 and 40 who displayed a profound interest in art.

Interviews: 5 users

We organised the insights on an Affinity Diagram to uncover shared themes within the collected data.

This process unfolded smoothly, and upon analyzing our results, 2 main groups revealed:

-Immersive experience.
-Information support UX.

There was a need for a personalized experience and more information available.

Next Steps

and Take Aways

We prioritized developing the MVP for the The Muse App, which we need to keep improving and testing:

  • The map feature easier set-up and clearer instructions.

  • Expand Beyond the Frame feature and make it better with well define function and instructions.

We also managed to generate an additional ideas that could be considered for future iterations:

  • Develop the UI design as we as the Hi-Fi prototype

  • Add "your favourite art pieces" as a feature, and the possibility of create collections.

Working within a tight time constrains taught us invaluable lessons:

  • Communication and empathy with our teammates are key.

  • Use your time wisely, break down big tasks into smaller tasks, and stay focused on achieving the goals of the day.

  • Stay positive and embrace the process.
